About Us

What’s In a Name?

Mandalas — like the the geometric designs above — exist in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Native indigenous cultures and are often used to guide individuals through a spiritual journey of disintegration (the process of losing cohesion or strength) and reintegration (restoring elements regarded as disparate) often through meditative or contemplative processes. Mandala circles symbolize the idea that life is never-ending and everything is connected.

We chose the name Mandala Change as reflective of the notion that change and organizational development is a continuous journey impacting the entire system and all of its parts — individuals, teams, infrastructure and culture. We embrace this integrated approach and apply it to all of our contracted projects. We also identify tension points and places where cohesion and restoration between disparate elements in the system are needed. Our definition of success is to yield effective, sustainable interventions that leave our clients’ systems stronger than ever.

Our Values

Meet and Push We seek a balance between meeting our clients where they currently are and pushing them where they need to go in order to “walk the talk” on their values. Especially when it comes to racial equity and inclusion, we seek a balance between meeting clients where they are in their learning edge at every level — individual, interpersonal, organizational culture, and internal systems.

Adaptive Sometimes clients hire us for what they perceive as a technical fix. However, once we get in the client-consultant relationship, we discover we’re talking about a more adaptive challenge. At the Mandala Change Group our goal is to be flexible in our approach so that we can achieve more sustainable institutional resolutions for our clients (versus a temporary “band-aid” fix).

Co-Creation Our clients know their staff and culture best. So, while we leverage our expertise to offer solid recommendations and strategies, we are always in a stance of co-creation to ensure that every strategy and solution is customized to work best for the teams and institution we are supporting.

Compassion Let’s face it: Transformative change is hard work; it can be revealing and sometimes uncomfortable as it pushes us outside of the status quo. We can help to identify and name change factors that become tension points -- loss, trade offs, failures, learning edges, new growth areas, etc. Our goal is to create a space where clients can feel comfortable reflecting on what feels hard, but still push through to success, always celebrating the wins along the way.

Disruptive We are constantly seeking to be innovative and challenge the status quo in our practice. To this end, we pursue solutions that are equitable, inclusive, and just. We bring a strong understanding of principles of intersectional equity that centers race, but also includes other disenfranchised communities including LGBTQ+, the disabled, women, generational distinctions, culture and class.

Excellence We strive to provide the most excellent services possible by staying away from an ideal of perfectionism which does not allow for learning and adapting with our clients as we go. As part of our commitment to excellence, we place a high value on being thorough, responsive, and open to feedback.
